PROS:
A taunt thriller. You won’t be able to stop watching. Violence is mostly off screen, making it easier for the squeamish to endure. Good acting all around.
CONS:
The film can’t make up it’s mind. At the beginning it seems like an exploration of the evils that lurk around and in us.
But the last quarter of the film veers deep into thriller territory abandoning all gravitas.
The torture of a kidnap suspect by the father of a victim is lost in a flood of new plot points. Characters and themes are abandoned never to be fully explored.
Closing Comment:
The movie gripped me. But I can’t figure out if the child abduction and torture were included as exploration of themes or exploitation of me.
