Our family just finished reading the Lord of the Rings. I’m not exactly sure when we started, but I would guess it was about 10 months ago.
So it took little imagination to feel what the Hobbits must have felt to be finally going home after their long journey.
This final poem by Bilbo Baggins really touched me. He says it to Frodo, Sam, Pippin and Merry when they visit him in Rivendell upon their return.
I told the kids I want it engraved on my headstone.
But if that is too expensive, a public reading at the burial will suffice.
